Chinese New Year Preparation

We are hosting a dinner for 16 pax tomorrow night here at home. Our house is not ready kaya I didn’t go to the office today because I have to supervise the household staff, some simple tasks lang naman.

Two items broke:
One Capodimonte flower bouquet. I heard a loud craaaashhhh!
Sumabit daw sa damit nya according to Vilma. She has broken a couple of things already and has destroyed several of our clothes by putting a lot of chlorine. Kunsumisyon.

Crassshhh! The sound came from the kitchen. Housegirl #1 was wiping a ceramic bowl, then Housegirl #2, for lack of anything to do, hit #1’s hand, as a consequence, #1 accidentally dropped the bowl.

I bought ingredients for macaroni salad, kasi Edmund likes taking merienda in the afternoon, and sometimes at night. When I went to the kitchen to get some fruits, the maids were joking around while holding the boiled chicken. I caught the maid jokingly slammed a slice of chicken thigh on the face of house girl #1.

Edmund doesn’t like my silvers. I can’t blame him, sobra kasing high maintenance. They tarnish easily, labor intensive and not cost efficient. Johnson’s metal polish cost P150 for a small can. Too much hassle to keep them clean and sparkling all the time.
Ang baduy-baduy daw. Oneida yan Tart.

Will use the Santa Claus table napkins, para maubos na.

Will set up buffet table here in our small lanai.

I couldn’t find any more nice table cloth. Lagi na lang they disappear. Bili ako ng bili, laging hindi ko na makita after nilabhan.

Eto bago na naman, I bought in Turkey.

I sat down on the floor for about 15 minutes. I heard the sound of firecrackers. Biglang akong nalungkot. Actually I’ve been feeling this way for the past few days. Naalala ko bigla ang parents and siblings ko. The sound of firecrackers just brought back some childhood memories. When it’s New Year and my parents would be busy preparing for noche buena. When my brothers (Kuya Junior, Kuya Romy, Kuya Lito, Kuya Ben) would be outside of our house, nagpapa putok ng labintador.
Nakakallungkot rin, hiwa-hiwalay na kami and our parents are gone.
Life is like that, soon, my children would have their own homes, and I would be very sad, sitting alone here on the floor.

Oh no, I have sugat, I didn’t notice I hurt myself, Saan kaya? Dami ko ng peklat dagdag na naman ito.

This I found in the linen cabinet, eh bedsheet ito ng anak ko. Laging ganyan, yung mga bedsheets dun napupunta kahalo ng table covers.

I instructed Deo and Nars to arrange the plastic chairs. We’re expecting 16 guests, plus the 4 of us kaya twenty kami. Instead of 3 round tables, I’ will use four 6 ft. rectangular tables.

Omb—– “Deo, paki ayos yang mga silya,
Omb—— “Dalawampu kami”.
Deo—— “Four, four”
Omb—— “Dalawampu kami”
Deo——- Three five.
Omb——- “Sampu isang hilera”
Deo—— “seven?”
Omb—— “Ano bang pinagsasabi mo? Sino ba iniisip mo?”
Deo—— “Alam ko na”

(I doubt it. Kilometer remember?)

I double checked the powder room. Maalikabok naman this guy, kawawa.
Does he look Chinese?

He now looks better. Gwapo na uli, Bagong punas.

I ran to Podium for an errand, Sarado na yung establishment.
I saw Piolo Pascual, gwapo pala sya sa personal. Why do they say he’s bakla?

I went to Dragon Fireworks office. I bought two boxes of sawa (judas belt) for lighting while the dragon dancers are dancing. They come to our offices every year.

Itlog ni Kuya pala only sells duck eggs. I was going to buy chicken eggs to bring to Santa Clara. We’re going to eat outdoors tomorrow eh di ba kanina it rained? I wasn’t able to make an offering. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow.

I also went to Farmers Market to check-out what’s available. My cook said we need this for the fish. She asked the tindera “magkano ang bil pi- per?”

The pineapple is the super fruit today, the vendors upped its price by at least 4 x.
P150 each!

i couldn’t resist buying kaymito.

I also bought two stems of Malaysian mums P150 for the two. Ang konti naman.

If I were Mrs. Richie Rich, I would surround our house with beautiful fresh flowers, Pati banyo ko and bedroom.

My son looked for me when he came home. I showed him the pineapple na pampaswerte.

We’ll have a few games tomorrow after dinner. Am preparing some props:
This is for the game “Know your Chinese neighbors”.

These are the two crowns for the game “Chinese Food Henyo”

Another game is Tikoy o Kahon. I am only inventing those titles and games.

Thought of wisdom for the Chinese:

The best way to lose weight is to use chopstick all the time. I said chopstick, not chopsticks. Use one piece only, you’ll cut your intake by at least half.

See you tomorrow. Wear red.
