JC’s KITCHEN in Bath, UK

April 30, 2019, Bath, UK

While we were waiting for our van, I noticed a Philippine flag flying over a food kiosk selling grilled meat on the spot. I decided to approach and investigate like a true blue tsismosa.

There was only one person there, a big, stacky guy who looked a little bit like a Caucasian but with dark eyes and light copper skin. He was busy grilling meat, putting them in disposable foil and food tray. Then he asked one of the female customers– “What sauce do you want? Mang Tomas lechon?”

I heard him telling a Filipino customer that his bestseller in winter is lugaw.
Ahhh Filipino nga sya.

Food looked and smelled delicious so I decided to buy too. Then it was my turn to be asked— “Ate ano’ng sauce ang gusto mo? Meron ako Mang Tomas Lechon.”

I paid £7 even for this delicious grilled chicken and pork ribs combination with rice.

He’s a pure Filipino and he’s been living in the UK for 33 years. I am proud of him. He is hardworking and he found a spot on earth where he could flourish. I am doubly proud of him because he is proud to be a Filipino and he is shouting it from the highest steeple.
