FOO’D by Chef Davide Oldani

August 14, 2018

An outing with my daughter points to one direction,  food.  This time she brought me to a restaurant called FOO’D by Davide Oldani.

Oldani is a Michelin star chef from Milan, Italy and one of the 50 chef ambassadors of Italian cuisine.

The chefs at FOO’D are Filipinos and not Davide Oldani himself. It’s a restaurant franchise and not owned by Chef Oldani.

We were here before noon and we were not hungry yet. Choosing what and which food to try took a bit longer.
When you dine in restaurants like this, you don’t actually come here to eat. You are not here for the food alone. You are here for the total experience. You have to embrace the whole package. To me the food choices are secondary. It’s all about having fun and appreciating the talent and creativity that come with every dish that lands in front of me.

I chose the 3 course tasting menu because I wasn’t hungry yet because I had a full breakfast as I normally do.

They served us a tiny plate of appetizer— amuse-bouche, balsamic pearl, truffle and potato mousse.  The teenie-weenie one with cream and caviar was soooooooooo delicious I asked for a second serving of just this one. We were willing to pay but I guess since this was not on the menu so there’s no cost and price.

They gave us two pieces more. Ang liit lang nito, as small as a peso coin. I can finish two dozens of this or maybe 3 while watching Homeland on Netflix.

My adventure began with Iberico Pork and Scallop with Salsa Verde

I had spring chicken and prawn which I liked a lot. Mind you the serving is small so if you are matakaw and gutom, go for the 8 course meal.

I had no idea what my daughter ordered. I liked mine better.

The tiny dehydrated lemon meringue had a great texture. They rolled and melted perfectly in my mouth. They had the right combination of tanginess and sweetness. The dark green lettuce gelato was not bad but I didn’t feel I was eating gelato. Nor the lettuce taste came out. The lemon curd where the meringue cuties were stuck was ultra sweet and not for diabetically prone old fatty women like me.

I am only guessing that this is their version of white chocolate souffle.

I didn’t bother to look at the food bill, baka maguilty pa ako. Thank you anak for this treat and all the treats to come. Let’s eat here again.
