Reminder: Check your receipts

Let’s make it a habit to check the items in the receipts, the breakdown of charges and the total, before paying, even in fastfood restaurants.

I would be hitting the 7 pm traffic so I swung by Jollibee to eat and also to give time to my companions to eat. I gave them money for food and parking.

I ordered the package / value meal, palabok with one leg of chicken, it comes with a cup of soft drink. That’s what’s in the photo.

The cashier asked me what drink do I want? I said Coke. He said they ran out of softdrinks, they only have iced tea and pineapple juice. I said pineapple juice na lang.

When the total bill came, he said “one hundred fifty five (+-) is your total”.
I said “bakit naging one hundred fifty five (+-) eh hayun oh, nasa board one hundred forty pesos lang”.

Jollibee pansit palabok and chicken joy

Gay Cashier——–“Extra yung pineapple juice?”
Me—————–“The meal comes with a drink, you asked me to choose but you never said I have to pay extra”.
He said something about upgrade or something plus wala daw silang softdrinks.
Me—————–“It’s not my fault that you don’t have softdrinks”.
Cashier——- “So water na lang?”
(kala nya siguro cannot afford the pineapple juice ako)
Me—————-“Yes, I’ll just have water”.
Cashier——-“Your total is P140″.
Me—————-Di ba you should deduct the cost of the softdrinks?”
Cashier——-“Your total is one hundred thirty five pesos”.

Water na lang, Jollibee

I don’t mind paying extra for something that I want. They should disclose to the customer that they ran out of softdrinks that are included in the value meal, and if the customer want iced tea or pineapple juice, then there’s an additional payment of P15 (+_) Dapat ganyan. Huwag yung basta na lang nilang sisingilin yung customer. Eh paano yung mahihirap na kulang ang pera? Nag a-upsell sila but slamming it down on a customer’s throat is unfair and borderline bad business ethics.

  1. You are correct Ms. Annie. Sometimes i want to think that its a modus operandi of fastfood chains to increase sales. But shame on them, getting sales from honest paying hungry customers. Thats why i am always attentive in the order taking palang kasi they speak so fast and puch the amount twice as fast. Gutom ka na nga, maiinis ka pa. Hayy, i hope this kind of sales strategy will get them somewhere. Kahiya naman sila.

  2. Im also surprised lagi silang walang softdrinks, ganyan din sa sm southmall last december. 2 weeks silang walang softdrinks! Really? Big company like them walang softdrinks.
